Factory-Direct Carbide Dies, Built to Your Drawing

LuminaCast manufactures custom tungsten carbide dies for wire-drawing plants, stamping and cold-heading shops, and tube and profile extruders worldwide. Dies are finished in-house from high-quality sintered carbide blanks — wire & sinker EDM for bore profiles, CNC precision grinding for critical faces, and PVD/CVD coating when longer die life is required.

Send a drawing, a STEP file or simply the worn die you want to replace. We quote in YG6, YG8 or YG15 (88–95 HRA) depending on the wear and impact your process generates, and advise on bore geometry and grade if the failure pattern suggests an improvement — our die failure guide shows how to read that pattern. Single replacement dies are welcome — MOQ is low and negotiable.

Die Types We Manufacture

Custom Tungsten Carbide Dies

Four die families, all EDM-cut and CNC-ground to your specification from imported sintered carbide blanks and inspected before shipment.

Wire & Tube Drawing Dies

Carbide drawing dies for steel, stainless, copper and aluminium wire and tube. Bore profiles — entry, approach, bearing and back-relief — EDM-cut and polished to your reduction schedule. Supplied as carbide nibs or fitted in steel cases to your specification.

Cold Stamping & Cold Heading Dies

Punch and die inserts for cold stamping, cold forging and cold heading of fasteners and formed parts. High-cobalt YG15 is our standard recommendation where impact loading dominates; YG8 where wear and toughness need balancing.

Extrusion & Deep-Drawing Dies

Extrusion dies and deep-drawing tooling for tube, profile and cup forming. Profile accuracy held by wire EDM and finish grinding for stable dimensional output over long production runs under high pressure.

Die Blanks, Sleeves & Custom Inserts

Profiled carbide die blanks, sleeves and special inserts machined from your drawing or sample when a standard die format does not fit — including replacement inserts re-engineered from worn originals.

Which Carbide Grade for Which Die?

GradeTypical hardnessCharacterBest suited dies
YG6~89.5–91 HRAHighest wear resistance, lower impact toleranceFine wire drawing dies, light-duty forming where abrasion dominates
YG8~89–90 HRABalanced wear resistance and toughnessGeneral wire & tube drawing dies, medium-duty stamping and forming dies
YG15~87–88 HRAHighest toughness, handles heavy impactCold heading and cold stamping dies, impact-loaded forming tools

Typical values — exact properties vary with WC grain size, producer and batch. Material certificates available on request. Full comparison in our YG6 vs YG8 vs YG15 grade guide.

What to Include in Your Die RFQ

The more of this you can send, the faster and more accurate the quote. A worn die and a one-line description is enough to start.

Tungsten Carbide Dies — Buyer FAQ

Are you a tungsten carbide dies manufacturer or a trading company?

We are the manufacturer. LuminaCast Hardware is the export brand of Huizhou Daxin Hardware Products Co., Ltd. (USCC 91441303666518471B), founded 2007 in Huizhou, Guangdong. Carbide dies are finished in-house from sintered carbide blanks with wire and sinker EDM, CNC precision grinding and QC inspection — you order direct from the factory.

Do you sinter dies from powder, or finish-machine them from blanks?

We finish-machine dies from high-quality sintered carbide blanks. In-house wire and sinker EDM, CNC precision grinding and PVD/CVD coating let us hold tight tolerances and consistent quality with shorter lead times than full powder-to-part production.

Which carbide grade should I choose for drawing dies vs stamping dies?

As a rule of thumb: YG6 for fine wire drawing dies where wear resistance matters most, YG8 as the balanced general-purpose choice for drawing and forming dies, and YG15 for cold heading and stamping dies that see heavy impact. Exact properties vary by producer and batch, so we confirm grade selection against your application before quoting. See the full YG6 vs YG8 vs YG15 comparison.

Can you copy a worn or broken carbide die without drawings?

Yes. Send us the worn die or a physical sample and we reverse-engineer the geometry, recommend corrections to the bore profile or grade if the wear pattern suggests them, and quote a replacement. STEP, IGES or 2D PDF drawings are equally welcome.

What tolerances and surface finish can you hold on carbide dies?

Down to ±0.005 mm on precision-ground surfaces, with Ra ≤ 0.2 µm achievable on ground faces. Working surfaces are EDM-cut and ground to your drawing; PVD and CVD coatings (e.g. TiN, TiAlN) are available for longer die life.

What is the MOQ and lead time for custom tungsten carbide dies?

MOQ is low and negotiable per item — single replacement dies are common orders. Typical sample lead time is 7–15 working days, with batch production in 25–30 working days after sample approval.
